Escrow.com released its 2026 Q2 Domain Investment Index Report, showing a strong upward trend in the domain market this quarter, with total transaction volume reaching $160 million, a 25% increase quarter-over-quarter.
.AI domains were the biggest highlight, with transaction volume soaring from $10 million in Q1 to $37.7 million, a 270% increase. The average transaction price for precise English words in the .AI domain jumped to $535,000, surpassing the $529,000 of similar .com domains for the first time, achieving a turnaround in the high-end market. Driven by .AI, the transaction volume of ccTLD country code domains increased significantly, with its market share rising from 15% to 31%, while the overall transaction volume of other ccTLD suffixes declined.

Premium .com domains also performed well, with the average price of precise word domains rising by 31%, breaking previous historical peaks. Data shows that domains without actual website content accounted for 92% of the transaction volume this quarter, becoming the main force in the market. Short-character .com domains remained stable, while the prices of four-letter and five-letter domains rose slightly. Geographically, US buyers remained the main force in the market, while Hong Kong saw a several-fold increase in transaction volume.
