The US-based Unstoppable Domains Inc., known for its blockchain-based domains like .eth, .crypto, and .wallet, has announced its intention to apply for the new .podcast generic Top-Level Domain (gTLD) with ICANN.
Unstoppable Domains describes .podcast as a
“portal to the next generation of the internet and your gateway to a vibrant community of creators, thinkers, and innovators.”
The initiative is in collaboration with The Edge Of Company, a Web3 and NFT-focused company founded in 2020 and based in Singapore.
Currently, .podcast is available as a Web3 domain through Unstoppable Domains for a one-time fee of $20. However, these domains cannot be used within ICANN’s traditional Domain Name System (DNS). Instead, Unstoppable Domains is promoting benefits such as:
✅ Discounts and/or access to future The Edge Of Company events
✅ A creator forum to connect with other podcasters
✅ Airdrops from guests of the Edge of Show podcast
If successful, .podcast could bridge the gap between Web3 and traditional domain infrastructure, bringing blockchain domains closer to mainstream adoption.
