The 2026 China Internet Conference, hosted by the Internet Society of China, successfully opened recently at the China National Convention Center in Beijing. As a major internet industry event in the first year of the 15th Five-Year Plan, this conference brought together over 400 industry experts, more than 1,000 enterprises and research institutions, and attracted 30,000 participants from its ecosystem. Covering cutting-edge fields such as artificial intelligence, 6G, computing networks, and data elements, it serves as an important indicator of the current development of China’s internet industry. The global domain name trading platform DN.com was invited to participate, joining representatives from government, enterprises, academia, and industry to discuss the innovative value and development opportunities of internet infrastructure resources in the AI era.

The Internet Infrastructure Resources Innovation and Development Forum was a focal point of the conference, focusing on core issues such as next-generation internet architecture innovation, domain name system construction, the opening of new general-purpose top-level domains, and global industry collaboration, releasing several key industry signals. First, AI technology is being fully integrated into domain name infrastructure construction. Intelligent domain name systems and trusted interconnection platforms are being rapidly implemented, and AI-enabled applications in domain name security monitoring, intelligent scheduling, and risk identification are becoming increasingly widespread, significantly enhancing the strategic value of domain names as the foundational building blocks of the internet.

Second, a new window of opportunity for global generic top-level domains (gTLDs) is approaching, bringing structural development opportunities to the domain name industry. The establishment of dedicated brand domains and the accumulation of digital assets for overseas expansion have become a common consensus within the industry. Furthermore, the industry report on digital brand development released at the conference clearly states that high-quality domain names are core digital identity assets for enterprises’ digital transformation and global expansion, calling on the industry to prioritize the planning and deployment of domain name assets.

Experts at the conference pointed out that the domain name system is evolving from traditional character addressing to a digital trust carrier. In the wave of AI reshaping internet infrastructure, domain names are no longer simply network technical addresses, but rather core trust anchors for corporate brands in the digital world. In addition, the latest adjustments to ICANN’s domain name technology and policies will further optimize the global domain name governance system, promoting the industry towards refinement and standardization, which is beneficial to the long-term development of the industry.
This conference emphasized industry ecosystem integration. Against the backdrop of the deep integration of AI, computing power, and data elements, industry enterprises are re-evaluating the strategic value of domain names as entry points. Compared to fluctuating algorithmic traffic, high-quality domain names are stable core assets for enterprises’ digital development. After more than 30 years of development, the domain name industry has continuously iterated and upgraded. In the future, basic internet resources will continue to support the development of the AI and digital intelligence industry, helping enterprises solidify the foundation for digital and global development.
