Identity Digital, the new back-end registry for Anguilla’s highly sought-after .ai domains, has introduced a Drop-Catching Platform called DropZone.
The platform activates when an expired .ai domain does not find a new owner through a prior auction. It then enters DropZone, where registrars can bid during a daily one-hour window in a “Dutch auction” format, with prices gradually decreasing over 14 days. DropZone ensures equal opportunities for all registrars to acquire expiring .ai domains.
Since Identity Digital optimized .ai auctions starting February 25, 2025, they have generated over $600,000 in revenue, boosting weekly gross sales by 20%. The Government of Anguilla (GOA) benefits significantly, receiving a large share of auction proceeds, directly supporting the local economy.
