ICANN Announces Fee Increases for gTLDs Amid Industry Concerns

ICANN has announced fee hikes for gTLD registries and registrars, effective from January 2025. The quarterly fixed fee for registries will rise to $6,450, with transaction fees increasing to $0.258 per domain. Registrars will see their transaction fee rise to $0.20. The adjustments aim to address inflation and rising operational costs. This comes amid concerns over potential .com price increases following Donald Trump’s election win, as his previous administration removed price caps, allowing Verisign to raise fees by 7% annually in four of the past six years.
