Domain Market Weekly Report: General Word .com Leads the Way, .ai Domains Continue to Gain Popularity

Last week (July 27th to August 2nd, 2026), the domain trading market was active, with the top 20 domains exceeding one million US dollars in total transaction value. Folk.com topped the list with a private sale price of $250,000, confirming the irreplaceable role of short, memorable English word domains in the branding process.

Second place went to source.ai, which sold for $200,000 on fruits.co, once again drawing attention to the value of AI-related domains. As artificial intelligence applications accelerate their implementation, the “.ai” suffix, which accurately describes the source of technology and data capabilities, is becoming highly sought after by tech startups. Following closely behind, bbbet.com sold for $105,000 on DropCatch, demonstrating strong demand for short, combined domains in the gambling and gaming vertical.

Notably, both fills.com ($95,000) and distilled.com ($43,000) were sold through mainstream platforms. These two verb-object domain names, respectively, point to the words “filling” and “distillation,” possessing natural commercial appeal in industries such as supply chain, chemicals, and content refining. The joint listing of mynotes.ai ($35,000) and pairs.ai ($29,000) further reinforces the premium pricing logic for domains related to AI niche scenarios (such as note-taking collaboration and pairing algorithms).

In terms of sales channels, GoDaddy was the largest platform last week with 8 transactions, followed by Namecheap with 4. High-priced transactions also frequently occurred on private platforms and vertical platforms. Interestingly, manifest.sh ($25,000), with its “.sh” country code suffix, entered the list, reflecting the increasing acceptance of non-mainstream suffixes within the developer ecosystem and command-line tool market.

Overall, the market last week showed three main signals: First, the combination of “category keywords + AI suffix” continued to gain popularity; second, 4-6 character practical English word domain names remained highly sought after; and third, end buyers were more willing to pay a premium for domain names that directly described their core business. In today’s increasingly competitive digital asset market, the strategic value of high-quality domain names as online entry points is being incorporated into the long-term brand budgets of more and more companies.
