Trucks VC Announces M Fund to Support the Next Generation of Transportation Startups

Trucks Venture Capital (also known as Trucks VC) has launched its third and largest fund to date, totaling $70 million. The fund aims to discover and support early-stage startups that are shaping the future of transportation. Trucks VC, known for its innovative investment strategies and deep industry expertise, operates through its official website at Trucks.VC.

Investment Strategy and Focus

Founded by Reilly Brennan, Jeffrey Schox, Kathryn Schox, and Puneeth Meruva, Trucks VC specializes in transformative technologies in transportation, including autonomous vehicles, electric air taxis, EV charging infrastructure, mobility data platforms, and more.

The new fund will target around 30 seed investments, with check sizes ranging from $500,000 to $2 million, focusing on seed and pre-seed stage companies. Trucks VC’s strategy aims to secure approximately 10% ownership in each investment.

“Our core strategy is to be so compelling that the best founders want to talk to us early, rather than pursuing a set number of investments in specific categories,” said Reilly Brennan.

Initial Investments

Trucks VC has already made several investments from the new fund, including:

Treehouse: A startup offering charger installation as a service.

JetZero: A developer of zero-emissions jet aircraft.

Auriga Space: A company specializing in low-cost, high-frequency kinetic launches.

Carvis: Creator of an AI-driven system to support mechanics.

Evolving Investment Philosophy

Since its founding in 2014, Trucks VC’s investment philosophy has evolved. Six years ago, the firm shifted away from identifying ideas first and then searching for founders, instead focusing on discovering exceptional founders who bring new and innovative ideas to the table.

“When we developed an idea and then looked for a founder to execute it, we often made poor decisions driven by confirmation bias. By instead waiting for great founders to open us to ideas we hadn’t considered, we gained the flexibility to explore areas like aviation and aerospace, which weren’t part of our original mission,” Brennan explained.

Proven Track Record

Trucks VC has a history of successful investments, including:

Bear Flag Robotics: Acquired by John Deere.

Zendrive: Acquired by Intuit last year.

Joby Aviation: A leader in air taxis.

Gatik: Specializing in autonomous logistics.

Skyryse: Focused on automated flight controls.

Strategic Partners

The investors in the new fund have not been publicly disclosed, but Brennan noted that it includes seven strategic limited partners, such as an automotive supplier, a tire manufacturer, an insurance company, and an airline.
