And did we mention Spaceship has grown to over 100k customers since launch?
To achieve so much in the year Spaceship celebrated its first birthday and its first full year out of beta is a testament to not only our hardworking team but also to you, the customer. Your ongoing support and collaboration in making Spaceship the best platform it can be is helping cement us as the fastest-growing web services company out there.
To put things in perspective, let’s examine the different milestones that made 2024 a groundbreaking year for Spaceship.
General platform milestones
January 2024
Adopting passkeys
In keeping with the evolution of online security, Spaceship adopted passkeys at the start of the year. This fuss-free yet highly secure login option is set to surpass passwords as the login method of choice in the long term.
February, 2024
Adding universal two-factor authentication (U2F)
Spaceship then added U2F, a more advanced version of two-factor authentication (2FA), further strengthening account security. It allows users to authenticate with hardware keys, biometrics, and more.
Moving in the right direction
Spaceship’s momentum continued to grow as we hit 500,000 domains under management.
Adding HTTPS URL redirect
You asked, we listened. HTTPS URL redirect was one of the top features requested from our customers. This free service allows you to redirect traffic to another domain while ensuring everything is encrypted.
Keeping on the right track, together
Speaking of feature requests, it was around this time we hit 2000 customer feature requests.
April 2024
Adding more payment options
This month, the platform branched out beyond Bitcoin for payment options, adding Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, and more.
Spaceship’s 1st birthday
Spaceship turned one in April. The celebration involved inviting customers to build the unseen future with us, together, and continue shaping the platform by requesting and voting for features.
June, 2024
1 million domains under management
If you thought it couldn’t get any more exciting, in June, Spaceship officially reached its first million domains under management. A mini domain trends report highlights the most interesting findings, including the top TLDs and the top countries registering.
July – August, 2024
From July 25 – August 31, we collaborated with Dribbble, encouraging its diverse community of creators and design leaders to start a better story online.
September, 2024
Beast Mode
Beast mode, our bulk domain search and registration tool that lets you search up to 1000 keywords simultaneously – and much more, went live.
Progressing further
Just a few months after our 1st million, Spaceship hit another exciting milestone: 1.5 million domains under management, indicating the platform’s increasing popularity.
Enhanced navigation
Soon after, we made an important tweak to ensure it is possible to navigate the Spaceship platform even more smoothly with a refreshed mega menu.
October, 2024
Launching a personal AI assistant
Perhaps one of the most significant achievements of the year was introducing Alf, a full AI assistant built into the platform. Alf can help you set up DNS, manage products, make recommendations, and more. Find Alf in your Launchpad now.
Adding AliPay
Payment options were then expanded with the addition of the popular Alipay, making it possible to pay in Chinese Yuan.

New languages were added to the Spaceship platform throughout the year to provide a better experience for our global audience, enhancing communication. These languages are:

AutoBackup expansion
The AutoBackup feature now has even more storage, which you can opt for in your Shared Hosting plan.
EU Data center location launch
This new data center in the EU allows our customers with website audiences in Europe and Africa to deliver better experiences, optimal page speeds, and improved SEO.
Singapore data center location launch
This Singapore-based data center improves load times and latency for Asia-based websites and is also fully sustainable.
Starlight™ Virtual Machines
With the launch of virtual machines, Spaceship now offers a more diversified hosting offering, giving users the potential for more control over their hosting experience.
Spacemail
Spacemail upgrades
You can now seamlessly upgrade from any Spacemail plan (unless you already use our top-level Advanced plan) to get more space, aliases, and mailboxes.
Simplifying email migration
Moving to Spacemail and setting up an account became even easier in April. Users can migrate existing emails from previous email services to Spacemail with our new Email Migration Tool.
Get help right from your webmail
July’s update allows users to submit support requests directly through Spacemail webmail. Now, getting help if and when you need it is even easier.
Introducing the Security Center
In August, the Security Center launched, letting you find a range of useful security features in one easy-to-use menu. These include:
- 2FA – enable 2FA, which allows you to validate every login using either U2F or TOTP.
- Devices tracking – view your log-in sessions and signed-in devices, get detailed information about each session, or sign out of all devices with a single click.
- Activity log – see detailed logs of account activity, such as login attempts, so that you can identify potential risks, such as unauthorized logins.
Easy Spacemail storage expansion
You can now purchase additional storage for your Spacemail account and scale up as your needs grow.
