PowerPlan.ai Domain Name UDRP Dispute: Transfer Request Rejected

PowerPlan, Inc., a U.S. financial and investment planning software provider, has lost its Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP) lawsuit against the domain name Powerplan.ai. The domain remains owned by the respondent, Dan Moorehead/Power Web5. PowerPlan, Inc. has been using the POWERPLAN trademark since 2012. The core argument of this lawsuit is that the disputed domain name is identical to its trademark and has been used in related AI financial planning tools, thus infringing on its trademark.

PowerPlan.ai Domain Name UDRP Dispute: Transfer Request Rejected

Public information shows that the disputed domain name Powerplan.ai was registered in November 2022. After registration, privacy protection was implemented, automatically redirecting users to the “Power Plan AI” page on the respondent’s main website, powerweb5.ai. PowerPlan, Inc. sent cease and desist notices to the respondent twice, in July and September 2025, but received no response. Ultimately, it chose to apply for a domain transfer through the UDRP process.

In this case, the respondent, Dan Moorehead, participated in the dispute resolution process as a self-representing agent and was granted a delay in submitting his response. He argued that Power Web5 is a low-code artificial intelligence platform containing multiple “Power” series modules, including Power Sheet AI, Power CRM AI, and Power Plan AI. Powerplan.ai merely served as a redirect to the Power Plan AI module and was not malicious towards the complainant. Furthermore, the respondent emphasized that he was completely unaware of PowerPlan, Inc. when registering the domain name, and that the complainant’s software focused on the fixed assets/utilities sector, which differed from his platform’s target audience and purpose, thus eliminating any possibility of confusion.

The panel, after review, determined that the disputed domain name was indeed identical to PowerPlan, Inc.’s POWERPLAN trademark. However, it accepted the respondent’s arguments, finding them credible, and found no evidence of malicious registration or use of the domain name by the respondent. Ultimately, the panel rejected both the complainant’s request for domain transfer and the respondent’s claim of reverse domain hijacking, ruling that the ownership of the Powerplan.ai domain name remained unchanged.
