The Italian country code top-level domain .It is now supported by the Austrian Anycast service RcodeZero DNS. This partnership was announced on May 5, 2025, by Nic.at, the operator of the service. The Italian registry IIT CNR, responsible for managing .It, chose to collaborate with the Salzburg-based provider after an intensive preparation phase.
With around 3.4 million delegations, high traffic volumes, and increasing cyberattacks, .It presents unique technical challenges. Thanks to the joint efforts, the integration was completed successfully within just a few days.
According to Christian Schöpp, Product Owner of RcodeZero DNS, the decision by the Italian registry is a strong endorsement:
“The fact that the Italian registry chose us shows that our European and global expertise is convincing.”
The addition of .It to the customer portfolio further solidifies RcodeZero DNS as a key player in critical internet infrastructure. The Anycast service ensures high availability, resilience, and maximum reachability — with globally distributed servers and automatic failover to the nearest available node in case of an outage.
This move demonstrates how Europe is growing closer not only politically and economically, but also through its digital infrastructure.
