ICA to Host Webinar on New gTLD Intelligence with Expert Insights

The Internet Commerce Association (ICA) is set to host an engaging and timely webinar titled “New gTLD Intelligence – Insights from the Experts” on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at 1 PM ET. This public session will delve into the current state of ICANN’s New gTLD Program and provide a forward-looking perspective as the next application round nears. Open to all, the webinar is designed for those planning to apply for a new generic top-level domain (gTLD), advising clients, or simply seeking to stay informed about the evolving gTLD landscape.

Moderated by ICA General Counsel Zak Muscovitch, the event will feature a trio of seasoned experts: Sophie Hey, Policy Advisor at Com Laude; Tom Barrett, Founder and President of EnCirca and Name Share; and Jeff Neuman, Founder and CEO of JJN Solutions. Together, they bring decades of experience and insider knowledge to the discussion, offering attendees a unique opportunity to gain insights from key figures shaping the gTLD ecosystem.

Sophie Hey has been with Com Laude since 2018, advocating for dot Brand and verified registries within ICANN policy circles. Her work includes contributions to the Subsequent Procedures Policy Development Process (SubPro PDP) and ongoing efforts to implement policies for the next gTLD round, with a focus on geographic names, closed generics, and registry agreements.

Tom Barrett, a pioneer in the domain industry, leads ICANN-accredited registrars EnCirca and Name Share, specializing in restricted TLDs such as .BANK and .REALTOR. Beyond his registrar roles, Barrett is involved in governance as Chair-elect of the ICANN Nominating Committee and serves on the DotAsia Organization’s Board.

Jeff Neuman, with over 25 years in the domain space, advises on gTLD-related legal and policy issues through JJN Solutions. A former leader of Neustar’s registry business, he played a pivotal role in the first gTLD round and now co-chairs ICANN’s policy development for the upcoming round.

Registration is now open, and ICA encourages attendees to share this opportunity with colleagues and industry peers. Don’t miss this chance to deepen your understanding of the gTLD program from those at its forefront.
