Thomas Keller, a board member of Germany’s DENIC eG, has been elected Chair of the Board of Directors of CENTR — the Council of European National Top Level Domain Registries. His election took place during CENTR’s 73rd General Assembly held on March 27, 2025.
CENTR is a not-for-profit association comprising mainly European country code top-level domain (ccTLD) registries, serving as a collaborative platform for developing best practices and high standards in TLD management. With Keller at the helm, DENIC’s international engagement gains new momentum.
Keller expressed enthusiasm about the new role, stating:
“I’m honored by the trust placed in me by the members and look forward to actively contributing to CENTR’s strategic development. Especially in times where digital sovereignty, security, and the resilience of the internet are becoming increasingly important, it is essential to amplify the voice of European ccTLDs and strengthen our cooperation. This mandate is a great opportunity to bring the European perspective into global internet discussions and help shape future standards.”
Joining Keller on the CENTR Board are:
- Luisa Ribeiro Lopes (.pt – Portugal)
- Jakob Truelsen (.dk – Denmark)
- Sophie Mitchell (.au – Australia)
- Pierre Bonis (.fr – France)
Keller’s appointment is expected to further solidify Europe’s role in shaping the global domain name landscape.
