In light of the EU NIS-2 directive requiring member states to improve cybersecurity standards, .de registry DENIC has announced changes to its WHOIS data policy, expected to take effect in the second quarter of 2025. Going forward, WHOIS queries will display the full registration data of corporate domain owners, including contact details, while personal data remains protected under the GDPR. DENIC is also providing authorized requesters with dedicated access to domain ownership data, ensuring legal compliance and user privacy under the new regulation.
