Anguilla’s country-code top-level domain (ccTLD) .ai added 54,372 new domain names in the last quarter, according to data from the registry’s website. As of today, there are 533,068 registered .ai domains, a significant jump from 478,696 on July 1.
The registry’s numbers show an even more dramatic rise from a year ago when .ai managed 306,861 domains. This growth puts .ai on par with the number of registered domains in Finland’s .fi or Identity Digital’s .live.
The surge in registrations is largely attributed to the fact that the .ai extension matches the abbreviation for “Artificial Intelligence,” making it a popular choice for AI-related businesses and startups worldwide.
